The Perspectives for Hydrogen as Energy Vector
Hydrogen is a main innovation area in the energy transition and in the EU policy agenda, with the report on hydrogen strategy released by the European Commission in 2020. The Italian National Resilience and Recovery Plan allocates 3.2 billion euros for hydrogen research, experimentation, and production.
In order to define the role of hydrogen in decarbonization strategies, it's fundamental to assess its impact along the lifecycle according to various production technologies, as well as evaluate its potential applications in various sectors, especially regarding hard-to-abate industries, transportation and electricity generation.
In urban areas, hydrogen can contribute to public and private mobility, also in combination with electrification strategies.
The workshop intends to promote debate on the current framework to support the increase of hydrogen as a clean fuel, as well as its urban applications.
